This week, I decided to write about a clip from YouTube. This video portrays a woman as being indecisive. She goes through many different items on the menu and finds something wrong with all of them. One messes up her face, one of the sandwiches was too "in", and depending on where the fish is from, it could "do a number" on her. I will admit, I know some women like this, but then again I know some men who are just as picky with their food. This video also shows the woman as only caring about how she looks. It doesn't matter if she likes the food or if its too expensive; if it doesn't mess up her face or her figure then she would get it. This would make some people believe that all women are like this, when in reality, there are plenty of women who would love to go out for a triple stack cheeseburger with extra greasy fries! This video also stereotypes men. This man knows exactly what he wants; he doesn't have to look at the menu and go through half the items on there. Again, I know some guys out there who fit the female stereotype in this video.
Not only does this portray men and women in the wrong when, it can also hurt men and women. If they were to watch this and believe that this is how everything should be, then damage will be done. For example, a woman could sacrifice her favorite foods because they "mess her face up" or "messes up her figure". First of all, not everyone is supposed to look exactly the same, and secondly, it's okay to enjoy a nice, juicy steak sometimes!
