Hello everyone! I've decided I am going to stick to cartoons for a little while. This cartoon is taking some of both of the male and female stereotypes into account, more so on the female one. Men "find the shampoo irresistible" because it makes a woman's hair smell like a new car. Most men do prefer women to smell nice (stereotype?) but I would say smelling like a new car is going a little too far with this. Since the lady told the other one that men find it irresistible, you can tell she is considering on purchasing it. I think one reason for this could be portraying a women's low self-esteem. This woman has low self-esteem and since she is told the shampoo is irresistible to men, that makes her want it. I don't believe men really think like this, but I do believe some women would actually purchase an item because it would make someone else more attracted to them (maybe that's a stereotype too?).
